Scanning is easy using the FusiformSCAN app, but it might take a couple of tries to master. Here are some helpful tips while you're taking your scan to help you get the most high quality scan.

1. Capture parts of the environment that are fixed, such as a table or chair to allow for better tracking. Fixed object and the environment provide more things for the mesh builder to latch on to so the quality of scans improve if more of the background is collected as the user takes a scan.

2. When moving around the patient, physically you have two options - translate or rotate, but scanning performance is best when you move doing only one of the two options.

  • Note: Try to translate then rotate then translate and so on rather than translating while rotating. The more jerky action actually makes it much easier for the slam engine to maintain its tracking

3. Red indicates you’ve lost tracking. You can try to move back to the position where you started, but likely it’s best to start over.

  • Red on the object while taking a scan, indicates that a scan is being taken too quickly or the object had moved out of range to get an accurate scan.
