This article reviews how to get started with scanning.

The FusiformSCAN app can be used without a subscription plan to track patients and images with your phone. Scanning functionality can only be accessed with a subscription plan. If you have any questions about selecting a subscription plan, see our Download the FusiformSCAN app guide.


Step-by-Step Guide to Taking a Scan

This guide is focused on helping you navigate how to add a scan, take a scan, and save your scan using the FusiformSCAN app.

1. Select the “+” icon at the bottom-right of the screen from either the “Home” or the “Scans” tab

  • You may also select the “+” icon from the bottom-right of a patient overview page if a patient card has already been selected. Skip to step #5 if a patient has already been selected.

2. Select the “Add Scan” button

3. If you want to add a scan to an existing patient

  • Use the search bar to search for the existing patient

  • Select the patient that you want to add a scan to

4. If you want to add a scan to a new patient

  • Fill in all the necessary patient fields. Note: Only the First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth are required fields. These fields can be updated at a later time as well.

5. Select the “Start Scan” button on the top-left of the screen

6. Select the “Record” button in the middle to start scanning

  • If you’re using a mirror, select the “Mirror OFF” button on the bottom-right of your screen

  • If you need to adjust the Noise filter, select the “Noise” icon and adjust the level to a specific percentage. Adjusting the noise level can adjust the precision of your scan.

  • If you need to adjust the Resolution filter, select the “Resolution” icon and adjust resolution range. Adjusting the resolution range can be updated based on the size of the object that you are scanning.

7. Approve your scan by selecting “Save Scan”. If you are not happy with your scan, select "Discard" to re-start taking your scan.

8. Rename your scan

  • At default, the scan name is the patient’s “firstName_lastName_date_uniqueNumber”

  • Use the “L” or “R” button to add a label to your scan name

9. Select the “Save Scan” button to complete the scan process
